One of my favorite stamp sets in the Seasonal Expressions 2 Idea Book is Ornate Blooms. This stamp set is proof positive that clear acrylix stamp sets are great for detailed stamping. It is amazing how beautifully these intricate designs transfer to your paper.
Much of the artwork I've seen using this stamp set have incorporated some form of "adult coloring". Also the images on this stamp set can be cut out using the coordinating set of thin cuts.
I wanted to go a different direction and decided to see how it would stand up to embossing.
To get this unique coloring, stamp with Lagoon, Pear and Honey pigment inks. To create the ombre effect, first tap the stamp a few times in the center on the lighter ink color, then tap on a darker color toward the edges.
Because pigment ink sets on top of the paper (instead of soaking in like dye ink), be sure to press gently straight down to prevent it from smearing. Before the ink had a chance to dry, sprinkle on clear embossing powder. Next heat the stamped areas with a craft heat gun. I love watching the embossing powder melt and turn shiny.
It is hard to capture on film how pretty and dimensional the raised design is. The sentiment for this card is from the Floral Banner stamp set.
Because of the beautifully shiny and dimensional stamping, this card really didn't need additional embellishment. However I added a few of the green enamel triangles to add just a little more pizzazz.
So next time you are looking for a way to dress up a card, remember the pigment ink/embossing powder combo.
