How to make Custom Christmas Photo Cards in Studio J

My Christmas cards just arrived in the mail today! I'm so excited that I was able to make these custom designs just how I wanted them in Studio J

If you have never created Studio J layouts, you can quickly set up an account to get started. Start here>>

Once you have an account, you can start making your cards by selecting Create a New Project  under the Welcome Banner. Next, you will upload the picture(s) you want to use for your cards and from the Select Your Layout Type menu, select Create Your Own Custom Layout.

Next you select your kit. You can narrow the choices using the drop down box on the top right of the screen. I considered only Holiday papers and choose the new Sparkle & Shine kit for my cards.

Once you have selected your kit, click the Continue button in the lower right corner of the screen. For the most flexibility, I suggest you select the "No Limits" Pattern which is simply two 12" x 12" photo wells. Obviously it doesn't matter what kit mix you select since no paper shows on this layout. Click Continue again and you are now ready to create your cards.

The first thing you want to do on this layout is create the bases for your cards. Click on one of the base photo wells so that the edit menu shown below is displayed.

Change the photo well to a text box by clicking on the button on the top row with the red circle around it. Then change the height and the width (blue boxes) to the size of card you want. I choose to make 5" x 7".

Now that you have a journaling box the size of your card, edit text and hit the space bar to remove any typing and drop your choice of B&T or solid cardstock into the box o create the background for your card.

Now fill the page with additional journaling boxes and edit similarly to the first to create the remaining card bases. I was able to fit four 5" x 7" cards on each page using the pattern below, making a total of 8 cards per layout.

Finally, add your photo wells, Stickease and other embellishments to your cards. (Email me or review other Studio J help documents as needed to complete these steps.)

You could also choose to make eight 6" x 6" cards (four on each page of a two page layout).

Or choose twelve 4" x 6" cards or any other size.

Remember the cost of a layout is just $6.95, so your cards will be between 58 - 86 cents using the options above. Divide the number of cards you want by the number on each layout to determine how many copies of the layout to order. Your cards will be gorgeously printed on high-quality photo paper. When they arrive, you will need to cut them apart into individual cards before mailing.

Don't forget to order envelopes to put your custom photo cards in.

I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial. If you have any questions, I'd love to chat with you further.
